I originally bought the basic Cairn Evo not realising I should have sized up from my usual (UK) 9. I take a half size larger in Bedrock sandals . Comfort wise they were fine as general wearing to the shops, dog walking, around the house and garden sandals, I forgot I was wearing them, but for longer walks the very thin soles made my feet and legs ache a little. I donated them to my light weight smaller footed friend and he's very happy with them, even for long walks.

I bought some Cairn Evo C's which were too cushioned for me so exchanged them for the Cairn Evo 3d Pro's which are my goldilocks sandals!...perfect amount of ground feel and super comfortable for all uses.

TL:DR I love these sandals so much I lost one while floating down a river and nearly drowned trying to get it back.

Two months ago on my birthday, after 6 months of waiting for a restock, I finally was able to order your classic sandals. In those two months I put about 20 miles in them around Arroyo Seco and Big Sur. So I was ecstatic to bring them to my childhood river here in Tennessee. Earlier this afternoon I was floating the west prong of the little pigeon river up here in the Greenbrier section of the GSNP. The sun was shining and the river was running fast and high from recent rainfall.

After escaping the tree that stole my tube and nearly took a rib, running it back down, and just before arriving at my favorite rock slide, I got stuck in a tight rock chute. Little did I know there was a cavity under the left side of the chute about 3 feet down with no outlet and a hell of a lot of current.

As I was scaling the rocks to get over the pinch, the current sucked my left sandal clean off. After 10 minutes of swimming under there without any gear, another 30 minutes surveying with goggles and a torch, and nearly drowning myself pinned to the underside .… I admitted defeat as that little damn cave was too deep and narrow. The river had taken my left bedrock.

Two days later I was headed up that same river to a trailhead for the start of a backpacking trip up Porter's Creek. As luck would have it, rain earlier in the day must of pushed enough current to unstuck my left…

I love my sandals. In the spring, summer, and fall, these are my primary shoes. I wear them everywhere. They are fantastic hikers if secured correctly. They go in the water, on the trail, on the pavement, sand, and on the paddle board. The grip is outstanding and they are incredibly comfortable. The only negative is a trade off, I’m willing to take on most trails. In the event you happen to slip and your foot slides into a rock, there is no protection for your uncovered foot. My wife has had the same pair for well over 5 years and they are still going strong.

I've owned multiple pair of Chacos over the years, and recently found that the high arch support is heavy, clunky, and not as benefitial for my wide/flat feet. I've been going more barefoot lately, and that has been better for my feet/knees. These sandals are a great middle ground that support a barefoot feel, while also giving you a rugged hiking sandal. I've already put many miles on the trails with these, and I must say they are great for boating, and exploring the Islands. Can't say enough good things about these so far. Time will tell how they hold up, as I'm quite hard on shoes/sandals, but 1 month in they are wonderful. I usually wear size 11.5, but I ordered the 12, and it fits well.
