Toe shoes and toe socks have never been my thing. I'm a busy person and taking the time to precisely get each toe in position felt like a poor use of time.
These are a happy compromise. Toes easily slide into place and the extra padding surrounding the big toe feels good. I don't do major hikes outdoors but I can see how for long trail days wearing these could be very handy.
Love seeing socks in colors beyond white/black as well.

These were great to have at camp after full days on the Kekekabic trail through the BWCA last fall. It's nice to let the feet breath but also be warm enough for near freezing temps. Be forewarned, they do not like fire embers!

I really like these socks and recommend them highly for people who like to wear sandals in winter. I have worn them on very cold days and my feet felt comfortable with the sock but I know they would have been painfully cold without. The one problem is that if you wear socks then your feet slip a little more on the sandals so that can make it harder to walk downhill because one’s feet slide into the thong which is uncomfortable. Maybe if the socks had a more grippy bottom that would not happen
