Just realized I’ve now been hiking in these sandals for 6 years, so it’s probably time to write a review. I live in AZ and hike about 20 miles a week and genuinely, these are all I want to wear on and off the trail. I switch to trail runners if it gets below 60 degrees or if I’m backpacking, but I want to be buried in these sandals. I actually have two pairs so I can wear the more worn out ones around town and save the ones with fresher tread for hiking. When one gets worn out after 2-3 seasons, I send the oldest ones in to be re-soled and rotate pairs.

This probably makes me sound like a crazy person, but these sandals are actually this good. I have super wide feet and am prone to plantar fasciitis, and they’re the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn. I lost one this year and Bedrock was able to sell me a single sandal instead of buying a whole other pair. Just buy them, you won’t regret it.

Since I love the standard Evo sandals as all-around footwear, I got a pair of these for hiking on rougher trails. While they're more supportive, they're also harder and more rigid, making them less comfortable. My standard Evos provide a fantastic blend of flexibility and tactile ground-feel, with durability and good traction. The 3D model is even more durable, but the footbed is rigider and thicker. Consequently, they're less comfortable, lacking the natural ground-feel. I would have rated them 3.5 if that were an option. They're well-made and highly durable. Just understand they're better for trails than as general footwear.

I went through a bit to end up with these. When I tried them at an outdoor retailer, they were not my prefered color and the model was mislabeled Cairn Evo, so that was what I asked for as a Christmas gift - in lovely slate blue. When I opened them, I was crushed to realize they weren't the model I tried on at the store, the soles were thinner and hard by comparison. Customer service was AWESOME though and tried to help me determine which model I was looking for. I exchanged for the Evo C initially, but they were too cushiony! (I would recommend those for people who are not at all ready for barefoot sandals.) So I got back on the Bedrock site and figured out the "Goldilocks" pair must be these Evo 3D. One more exchange (THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH!) and here are the "just right" pair that I fell in love with - Huzzah!!
