The Earthquake sandal comes with an elasticized rubber heel made with recycled bike tubing. The elasticity makes the sandal fit great and perform well on both trail and street runs. Made in the USA with Military Grade materials.

How is the Eq model different from Classic Bedrock Sandals?: The Bedrock Earthquakes have an elasticized rubber heel built from recycled bike tubing.
What does the rubber heel do?: The rubber heel makes finding a comfortable and secure fit easy. In particular it keeps the strap snug to your heel.
Can Bedrock Sandals run on trails and roads alike?: Absolutely. Bedrock Sandals are rugged enough to run technical trails and minimalist enough to run roads with a true barefoot feel.
I noticed the strap is exposed on the bottom. Will that wear out eventually?: In order to make Bedrocks as thin and minimalist as possible we mold the nylon strap into a durable plug beneath the vibram sole. Depending on what surfaces your running or hiking on the plug will last around a couple hundred miles. It's easy to rebuild though in a couple minutes - all you need is a lighter or matches. Do Bedrock Sandals fit like normal sandals?: Bedrock Sandals, unlike conventional sandals, are designed to act as a second skin beneathe your feet - giving some protection while not impeding natural foot function. Bedrock Sandals fit snugly and follow the exact length of your foot as close as possible. Check out our How To page to find your size.
How does the buckle work to adjust fit?: The buckle holds the strapping together and creates a multi-directional adjustment system. Twist the buckle to the outside of the foot to move the buckle up and down the thong strap. Twist the buckle to the inside of the foot to tighten the strapping.

Rubber Heel - Built with recycled bike tube rubber to create tempered elasticity in the heel. The elasticity makes these sandals fit comfortably and stay on your feet when you need them most.

6mm Vibram® Soles - Made from "Gumlite" material, a hybrid between neoprene and rubber. Considerably lighter than traditional rubber with the ability to mold to your feet over time. The Gumlite material has heightened groudfeel making 6mm feel more like 4mm.

Straps - Used in US Military parachutes. Quality tested and ultra-marathon tough. Our Rugged Olive Drab straps are 1/16" wider (9/16") and thicker than other colors. Rugged Black is 1/2" wide but stiffer/sturdier than other colors. Order Rugged Black or Rugged Olive Drab for use in challenging terrain.
